Vote For Your Favorite Songs - The G Bands

As always, I want to thank everyone who has participated and posted on my blog.  I meant to do the G bands several days ago, but work got really busy and I just didn't have the time to post it.

I can't let this particular day go by, September 11, without honoring and memorializing  the 3000+ unknowing martyrs who's lives were sacrificed 7 years ago today.  It was the saddest and most horrifying day as an American that I've experienced in my lifetime, so I know that for those who lost loved ones from the dispicable acts of the terrorists it was a life changing disaster.  That being said, RIP to those who died in the terrorist attacks and KUDOs to our men and women serving in our armed forces.

I've cut off the voting for the songs of the D bands.   We voted for up to 7.  Eight songs will advance as there was a four way tie for the final three spots and I don't wish to do a special vote just to eliminate one song.   Here are the songs that will advance to a later round....

  1. American Pie - Don McLean
  2. Space Oddity - David Bowie
  3. Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
  4. Riders on the Storm - The Doors
  5. What a Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers
  6. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
  7. Boys of Summer - Don Henley
  8. Light My Fire - The Doors

There aren't that many G bands however the ones I have in this list were some good ones.   This isn't a particularly long list so lets vote for up to 4 songs in this category.  I considered listing songs by Green Day as I really like that group, however, I'm trying to keep this limited to classic rock/pop which is mainly pre-1990 rock songs.  If you wish to write in a Green Day song or any G band rock and roll song that isn't on my list, feel free to do so.   Here's my list of G band songs.    Vote for up to 4.

  • Turn It On Again - Genesis
  • Invisible Touch - Genesis
  • Mama - Genesis
  • Land of Confusion - Genesis
  • I Can't Dance - Genesis

Although this list is much shorter than some of my previous ones, there are many great songs on this list and I think you'll find whittling your choices down to 4 may be quite a challenge.   So I'll post my votes and you may all post yours also.  If you haven't voted for the E or F bands feel free to do so.   When I do the H bands, that will be the cut-off for voting on the E bands.
