Welcome one and all to the 5th installment of 6 in the first playoff round in Lazer's Great American Search for the Greatest Rock song of all time. I had earlier stated that I'd take 6 songs from each of the 6 installments to narrow down the list to 36 for round 2. The only way I could do that here was to split the T band winners in half to give each song the fairest chance to win, or I could just combine all the S band songs and advance 5 from that group and when I do the T-Z category, we'ld just pick 7 songs. That is the route I chose to go. I'll explain that later right before I post the list of songs to vote for. First I want to publish a winner's list.
The voting for the songs from the F-K bands is closed and there were 6 clear cut winners, so I didn't have to worry about settling any ties. Here are the 6 songs that advance to the 2nd round and the number of votes they received:

Out of those entries, 26 songs emerged. Since we're basically picking 1 winner for every 5 songs on the list in this round, I'll ask you all to vote for only 5 songs in this entry. In the T-Z category there will be 37 songs listed and you'll get to choose 7 songs from that list.
